Talḫīṣ Kitāb al-ǧadal

Ibn Rušd, Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad, 1126‒1198

This book belongs to the paraphrases that Averroes authored for Aristotle's book. This paraphrases should not be confused with the "epitomes" and the 'commentaries" that Averroes wrote on Aristotle's works. The characteristic feature of the paraphrases is that Averroes usually starts with a part of Aristotle's text by saying 'He said...', then he elaborates on it with his explanation without distinguishing his own text from Aristotle's. The book 'kitāb al-Ǧadal' is on the art of argumentation. It consists of 8 treatises that deal with the different types of arguments, proofs, analogy and many other relevant topics.
